Pastoral Team Member (Youth & Young Adults)

The Pastoral Team Member will work under the supervision of the Pastor-in-Charge, and/or with the Pastor assigned to carry out the duties of planning, organising and managing the assigned ministries towards attaining the vision of Fairfield Methodist Church.

 

Job Description and Responsibilities

  • Youth Ministry

The PTM will work with the Youth Ministry Coordinator to grow and develop the church youth ministry in line with the church direction and vision in the following areas:

    1. Assist in designing, organising and planning the youth curriculum in consultation with the Pastor-in-Charge or Pastor assigned for all programs, youth camps, events and classes.
    2. Lead and oversee regular youth group meetings, fostering an environment of worship, learning, fellowship, and discipleship.
    3. Encourage and equip youth to share their faith with others, actively engaging in outreach efforts and evangelistic opportunities within the community.
    4. Handle administrative duties related to youth ministry, such as budget management, communication with parents and coordination with other church ministries.
    5. Collaborate with other church ministries (such as children’s ministry, worship teams, outreach and social concerns and missions) to ensure seamless integration of youth activities and initiatives within the broader church community.
    6. To ensure effective transition and church integration of the youths.
    7. To recruit, develop and train volunteers for the ministry.
    8. Provide pastoral care to youths both in large group and individual setting.

 

  • Young Adult Ministry

To build the young adult (aged 19-30) community to develop their relationship with Jesus and be on mission with Him.

Major Responsibilities:

    1. Together with the Pastor-in-Charge and any relevant key leadership, develop and grow the ministry to young adults by connecting and interacting with them through regular gatherings and through small groups.
    2. Ensure the young adults are integrated into the life of the church and into small groups.
    3. Increase the participation and service of young adults in the ministry life of the church.
    4. Recruit, equip, and enable volunteers to share in the ministry of the young adults.
    5. Integrate and transit young adults into all phases of church life.
    6. Strategise and increase outreach involvement for young adults in partnership with the outreach and social concerns ministry.
    7. Provide pastoral care to young adults both in large group and individual settings.
    8. Assist in the development and oversight of the young adult ministry budget.

 

  • Pastoral Care

    1. Support and coordination in pastoral visitations of the homebound, hospitalised, wakes and funerals.
    2. Assist the Pastors in the Baptism and Membership Class (administration)

 

  • Other Duties

    1. Any other duties as assigned by the Pastor-in-Charge or the pastor overseeing the ministry staff’s area of responsibilities.

 

Requirements

  • The Candidate must have relevant theological studies or qualifications from related fields and/or at least one year of relevant experience.
  • Candidate must be able to work outside normal schedules on evenings and weekends
  • Candidate must be a dedicated team player with a compassionate and shepherd’s heart.
  • Candidate must have good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A mature Christian and willing to learn.
